In a powerful display of unity and resistance, hundreds marched in Athmuqam near the Line of Control, urging the global community to act on Kashmir’s long-standing demand for freedom and justice.

A significant rally organized by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in Athmuqam has once again spotlighted the unresolved Kashmir issue. Citizens of all ages—elders, youth, and children—gathered in large numbers, holding banners and placards calling for justice and freedom.

Protesters raised passionate slogans against Indian occupation and human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The demonstrators also moved toward Indian pickets along the Line of Control, loudly chanting, “Solve the Kashmir issue” and “Give freedom to Kashmir.”

Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, addressing the rally, stressed the urgency for the United Nations to step in. He asserted that true peace in South Asia hinges on resolving the Kashmir dispute. “Without addressing the Kashmir issue, lasting peace between Pakistan and India is impossible,” he declared.

Ghazali emphasized that Kashmiris seek nothing more than their rightful freedom, justice, and peace. He urged the United Nations Security Council to honor its long-standing commitment to holding a plebiscite in IIOJK and to press India into abiding by international resolutions.

He also referenced the impact of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, stating that it serves as a lesson for India about the unwavering will of the Kashmiri people. Ghazali called on the global community, especially democratic nations, to support a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir conflict.

District President of Pasban-e-Hurriyat, Sharafat Hussain Malik, added that the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) are fully prepared to support Pakistan’s armed forces in efforts to liberate IIOJK. His words echoed the collective sentiment of readiness and resilience among the people.

Other speakers, including Faisal Farooq, Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Rafaqat Gilani, and Muhammad Aimal Farzam, reinforced the demand for self-determination and international intervention. They condemned ongoing atrocities and called for immediate global attention.

The demonstration continued along Neelum Highway near the Line of Control, where marchers reiterated their demand for a United Nations-supervised plebiscite. Their peaceful but firm protest served as a powerful reminder of Kashmir’s unresolved status and the urgency of justice.

This rally not only showcased Kashmiri resilience but also underscored the need for the international community to move beyond statements and take concrete steps toward resolving the Kashmir conflict in line with UN resolutions and the will of its people.
