A growing global chorus is demanding justice for Kashmiris suffering under decades of Indian oppression in IIOJK— the world can no longer stay silent.

Speakers at a powerful seminar denounced India’s continued state terrorism, brutal crackdown, and demographic manipulation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The seminar, “United Voices: Kashmiri and Pakistani Diaspora Confronting Oppression in IIOJK”, was co-hosted by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) and the Kashmir International Institute of Relations (KIIR).

APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi led the session. Attendees included Hurriyat leaders, politicians, diaspora members, academics, civil society, and rights advocates.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi emphasized the urgency of granting Kashmiris their UN-pledged right to self-determination. He asserted that the issue needs no new solution — Kashmiris had already chosen Pakistan long ago. India, he said, should be recognized as a military occupier.

Senator Sherry Rehman highlighted that Kashmiris are engaged in a legitimate freedom struggle. Representing the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), she evoked the efforts of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and reaffirmed her party’s unwavering support for Kashmir on global platforms.

Drawing a parallel between Palestine and IIOJK, she urged the UN to break its silence on the ongoing genocide and mass human rights abuses in both regions.

Former AJK Prime Ministers Raja Farooq Haider and Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, along with ex-Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq, stressed the ideological and emotional connection between Pakistan and Kashmir. They hailed the martyrs of Kashmir as national heroes and voiced optimism for the liberation of both Kashmir and Palestine.

UK-based speakers like Liaqat Ali and Dr. Zulfiqar of the Labour Party urged immediate international intervention. They warned that the Kashmir conflict has become a global concern and needs urgent resolution.

Other speakers condemned India’s demographic engineering in IIOJK, accusing the Modi regime of trying to erode Kashmiri identity. They cited abuses like arbitrary arrests, house raids, property seizures, and the targeting of Hurriyat leaders’ families.

Legal experts noted that India has relied on colonial-era tactics to extend its illegal control for 78 years. Despite this, they affirmed that Kashmiris remain steadfast in their peaceful resistance and won’t give up their just cause.

Participants called for the immediate release of all political prisoners, including Hurriyat leaders and detained youth. They urged the UN and human rights bodies to intervene, protect Kashmiris’ basic rights, and help push toward a fair resolution.

Prominent attendees included Abdul Rasheed Turabi, Raja Sajjad, Chaudhry Maqbool, Ambassador Nafees Zakaria, and several others from political, legal, and activist circles.
