APHC Calls for UN Action to End Indian Oppression in IIOJK and Ensure Regional Peace
May 11, 2025Without resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions, sustainable peace in South Asia will remain a distant dream.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has emphasized that true peace in South Asia is impossible without granting the people of Kashmir their United Nations-recognized right to self-determination. In a strong statement from Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas said that India’s aggressive posture and refusal to engage in meaningful dialogue continues to block any peaceful resolution.
While welcoming the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) between India and Pakistan, the APHC warned that the RSS-driven policies of Prime Minister Modi’s government are further destabilizing the region. Minhas cautioned that Kashmir remains a potential nuclear flashpoint due to India’s inflexible and hostile stance.
He criticized India’s ongoing attempts to crush the Kashmiri voice through sheer military force and communal politics. According to the APHC, the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is extremely dire, with Indian troops turning towns and villages into heavily militarized zones.
The spokesman highlighted that these areas have become sites of serious human rights violations, particularly targeting Kashmiri youth. Reports of killings, arbitrary arrests, and property seizures are rampant, painting a grim picture of life under occupation.
The APHC reiterated its call for India to settle the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The group stressed that New Delhi’s military operations, destruction of homes, job dismissals, and other oppressive acts are designed to silence dissent and alter the region’s demographic makeup.
Despite the brutalities, the APHC stated that the spirit of resistance among the Kashmiri people remains unbroken. Minhas said that millions have already sacrificed their lives and livelihoods for the cause of freedom, and the movement will continue until its just goal is achieved.
He further accused the BJP-led Indian government of exacting political revenge on the Kashmiris for resisting what he described as India’s illegal occupation of their homeland.
The APHC urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to intervene and hold India accountable for its ongoing atrocities. It called on global powers to support a just resolution to the decades-long Kashmir conflict in line with international law.
The statement concluded with a clear message: the Kashmiri people will not be intimidated into submission, and their struggle for justice and dignity will continue with unwavering determination.
