Merit and Justice Under Attack in IIOJK

Merit and Justice Under Attack in IIOJK

December 29, 2024 Off By Sharp Media

In IIOJK, the merit system is being crushed, leaving deserving individuals without opportunities and creating a system of injustice.

The authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have once again shown their blatant disregard for merit, leaving the future of many young Kashmiris uncertain. Despite numerous promises, the merit-based system has been consistently undermined.

The failure to address this issue is a glaring example of the government’s incompetence and apathy. Thousands of students and job seekers in the region are questioning why they should invest time and effort when their hard work is being completely disregarded. Opportunities are being denied to the most deserving candidates, and this has led to widespread frustration and resentment.

It is a fact that political parties, including the National Conference (NC), have failed to address these systemic issues. With three Members of Parliament (MPs) and 50 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), the NC has remained silent on the issue of merit and reservation. Despite holding significant positions, their inaction speaks volumes about their lack of concern for the people they represent.

Citizens in IIOJK voted for their elected representatives in the hope that they would raise crucial issues in the Indian Parliament. However, more than a year has passed since these MPs took office, and not a single one has bothered to highlight the injustice faced by merit-based candidates. This stark inaction reflects poorly on the political leadership in the region.

The empty promises made by the NC about ensuring justice and equal opportunities for all are proving to be nothing but lies. The reality is that deserving candidates continue to be sidelined while the political elite continues to exploit the situation for their own benefit. Instead of standing up for the people, NC leaders like Omar Abdullah remain passive, waiting for court rulings to address the issue.

The issue of reservation based on population is another critical concern that remains unaddressed. Without a system that guarantees justice, deserving candidates are left behind while others take their place. Immediate reforms are needed to restore merit, equity, and justice in the system.

Until those in power are willing to take real action, IIOJK will continue to suffer under the weight of unjust policies and systemic discrimination.
