Recently, Former Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena gave a statement in Kandy that he knew the perpetrators of the Easter Sunday attack. Thereafter, he was called by the Criminal Investigation Department to record a statement. In his statement, Former President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that Indian intelligence agency was behind the Easter Sunday attack and he has evidence related to it. However, he said that the evidence could only be presented to the judge in court. He claimed that the attack was planned by intelligence agencies with a focus on politics as Sri Lanka was looking forward to elections at the time of the Easter Sunday attack. Defence department is investigating at the top level whether to conduct an investigation with the former intelligence and military officials of Sri Lanka regarding this information. Attorney General had received Maithri’s statement on the same day and had begun to consider it.
