Extremist Students Force Illegal Burqa Ban At Azad Hind Fauj Smriti College

May 13, 2026 Off By Sharp Media

The aggressive move by a Hindu nationalist student group at Azad Hind Fauj Smriti Mahavidyalaya in West Bengal is a direct attack on religious freedom. These students publicly announced a total ban on burqas inside the campus as seen in Screenshot_20260512-093410.jpg. They shamefully shouted that the college is not a madrasa to justify their hatred. This is not about discipline but about targeting Muslim women and pushing them out of education.

A Bold Crime Against The Indian Constitution

This ban is a total violation of Article 25 which gives every Indian the right to follow their religion. These student goons are acting like they are above the law and the Supreme Court. No one has the right to tell a woman what to wear to her classes. By blocking girls in burqas these groups are breaking the law and destroying the dignity of students.

Creating A Terrorizing Environment For Minorities

Colleges should be for studying but these extremists have turned the campus into a place of fear. Using words like “this is no madrasa” shows their deep bias and hate. They want to make Muslim students feel like they do not belong in normal colleges. This kind of bullying makes it impossible for girls to focus on their studies and feel safe.

The Harsh Truth Of Education Gaps In West Bengal

Muslims make up 27 percent of West Bengal but their numbers in higher education are already very low. Most Muslim girls drop out before finishing college because of poverty and social pressure. If extremist groups start banning their clothes even more girls will stay home. We are losing a whole generation of educated women just because of some hateful protests.

The Ugly Rise Of Moral Policing In Schools

Student wings are supposed to help students not harass them. There is a 160 percent jump in hate incidents on campuses across India recently. These groups are using force to push their own narrow culture on everyone else. This moral policing is a disease that is killing the diversity of our educational system.

Judges Have Already Rejected These Illegal Bans

The courts have been very clear that you cannot ban religious clothes in colleges. In 2024 the Supreme Court stopped a similar ban in Mumbai because it was pure discrimination. The judges said that a student’s identity should not be used to stop them from learning. Those enforcing this ban in Howrah are ignoring the law and deserve to be punished.

Destroying The Peace Of West Bengal

West Bengal was always a place where different people lived together in peace. Now these extremist groups are trying to set the state on fire with communal tension. When the college administration stays quiet they are helping the bullies. We need strong action to stop these groups from ruining the social harmony of the region.

Economic Loss Caused By Excluding Women

When you stop Muslim women from going to college you hurt the whole country’s economy. National data shows that educated women help pull families out of poverty. By banning the burqa these extremists are making the state poorer. We cannot become a strong nation if we keep our women locked out of classrooms.

Protecting Every Student’s Right To Learn

The facts in Screenshot_20260512-093410.jpg show that our education system is under threat. We must stop people from using religion to divide students. The government must step in and protect every girl’s right to wear what she wants and study where she wants.

Defeating Hate To Save The Future Of Education

This illegal ban at Azad Hind Fauj Smriti Mahavidyalaya is a test for our democracy. We must refuse to accept this narrow mindedness in our schools. Every student has the right to education without being shamed for their faith. It is time to kick politics out of the classroom and ensure that schools remain a place for everyone regardless of their religion or dress.
