APHC Denounces BJP’s Hindutva Agenda and Human Rights Violations in IIOJK

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the BJP-led Indian government’s attempts to impose its Hindutva agenda in IIOJK, warning that such efforts cannot change the ground realities.

The APHC stated that the installed, corrupt administration in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is systematically snatching the civil, legal, and fundamental human rights of the Kashmiri people. Spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued from Srinagar, emphasized that these violations have escalated since August 2019. The APHC reiterated that India will ultimately have to accept the United Nations resolutions to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

The organization also condemned the inflammatory remarks made by Jammu-based Hindutva Dogra BJP leader Sunil Sharma regarding the martyrs of July 13, 1931. The APHC stressed that these martyrs remain heroes of IIOJK and their sacrifices for the rights and dignity of the oppressed people will never be forgotten.

Expressing deep concern over the deteriorating conditions of incarcerated Hurriyat leaders and activists, the APHC highlighted the lack of essential facilities, including legal and medical aid. Many detainees are suffering from severe health issues due to prolonged detention under harsh conditions. The statement also accused the BJP-led Indian government of setting new records of repression in IIOJK since 2019.

The APHC called upon international human rights organizations, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to urgently address the plight of Kashmiri prisoners and advocate for their immediate release.

Furthermore, the APHC urged the United Nations to hold India accountable under international law for its ongoing crimes against Kashmiris in IIOJK.
