Kashmiri Diaspora Leadership Urges Action and Unity for IIOJK
November 26, 2024A significant gathering of Kashmir’s advocates recently convened in Washington, D.C., underscoring the urgency of strengthening the global campaign for Kashmiri self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The meeting brought together prominent figures from Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Azad Kashmir, and the Washington metropolitan area. They visited Sardar Zarif Khan, Advisor to the President of Azad Kashmir, at his residence in suburban Washington.
Sardar Zarif Khan, recovering from a serious health setback, impressed attendees with his resilience, standing and walking with minimal support. His determination resonated as symbolic of the broader Kashmiri struggle.
The focus of the gathering was clear: galvanize the Kashmiri diaspora to amplify the cause of freedom and justice. The participants highlighted the vital role of engaging British and American youth of Kashmiri descent.
They emphasized leveraging tools like social media campaigns, organizing seminars, and hosting lectures at university campuses. These efforts aim to spread awareness about the plight of IIOJK and challenge the narrative of the occupying forces.
The attendees were resolute: the Kashmiri diaspora must remain steadfast in their commitment to self-determination, despite the brutal oppression and systematic silencing of voices in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Professor Dr. Imtiaz Khan and Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai joined notable activists such as Mustafa Malik and others in calling for unwavering support from the global Kashmiri community. Their unity exemplified the power of collective action in confronting injustice.
The four-hour meeting concluded with a dinner hosted by Sardar Zeeshan Khan, son of Sardar Zarif Khan, further fostering camaraderie and shared purpose among attendees.
The discussions also touched upon the importance of strategic leadership in navigating political, social, and media landscapes to ensure the Kashmir issue remains in international focus.
This gathering served as a stark reminder of the global responsibility to support Kashmir’s right to self-determination. As atrocities continue unabated in IIOJK, silence is not an option.
The diaspora must amplify its voice, exposing the human rights violations and advocating for justice on every platform available. This meeting was a step forward in uniting voices for a cause that cannot afford to be ignored.
