PDP’s Sartaj Madni Stresses Dialogue for Lasting Peace in IIOJK
May 23, 2025Amid ongoing tensions and uncertainty in IIOJK, PDP leader Mohammad Sartaj Madni has called for a genuine peace process through sustained dialogue and reconciliation.
Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Vice President of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has highlighted the urgent need for a lasting and meaningful peace process in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). According to Madni, dialogue and reconciliation are essential to ensuring long-term stability, development, and the overall well-being of the region’s people.
Speaking at a key organizational meeting held in Sopore, Madni emphasized that peace is not a luxury but a necessity. “Peace is not optional,” he stated. “ IIOJK pays the heaviest price whenever tensions rise between India and Pakistan. Only peaceful dialogue can open the path forward.”
The meeting was part of the PDP’s broader outreach and internal review campaign. Senior party figures attended the session, including General Secretary Advocate Abdul Haq Khan, former ministers Naeem Akhtar and Basharat Bukhari, MLA Mir Mohammad Fayaz, former MLC Yasir Reshi, and party representatives from various districts and zones. Social media coordinator Syed Tajamul and several grassroots candidates and workers also participated.
Madni described the gathering as a routine but essential effort to strengthen party unity and re-establish close coordination across all organizational levels. He said the purpose was to assess the party’s performance, realign its strategies, and reinforce its commitment to the people.
“The PDP stands with the people in every situation—whether good or bad,” Madni asserted. He reaffirmed the party’s foundational principles of peace, dignity, and democratic engagement, even amid the complex political challenges that continue to plague IIOJK.
He further stressed that only through inclusive political dialogue and a collective effort toward reconciliation can a peaceful future be achieved for the region. Development, he said, cannot take root in an atmosphere of conflict and fear.
PDP leaders also used the opportunity to listen to the concerns of grassroots workers and local representatives. The party reiterated its goal to serve as a bridge between the people and the political process, especially during times of heightened unrest.
The call for dialogue comes at a time when Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir continues to face militarization, unrest, and civil rights violations. Madni’s remarks have been seen by many as a timely reminder that political solutions—not force—are the only sustainable path forward.
