APHC Urges International Action to Address Suffering in IIOJK
July 25, 2024The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on the international community to urgently address the suffering of people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement from Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the harsh measures imposed by the BJP-led Indian government. He criticized the regime for punishing Kashmiri people seeking the right to self-determination.
The APHC alleges that the BJP government is systematically removing Kashmiri Muslim employees from government positions under dubious pretenses as part of a campaign to marginalize the majority community in IIOJK. Recent discriminatory actions, including the suspension of four more Kashmiri Muslim employees, have been highlighted. The statement notes that numerous Kashmiri Muslim employees have already been terminated, while non-local Hindus have been given employment opportunities.
“The sackings of Kashmiri Muslim employees by the Modi government reveal a pattern of discrimination and political repression,” the APHC stated. They argue that these firings are part of a broader scheme to eliminate local representation in government roles.
Minhas lamented that justice has been elusive for Kashmiris, who have faced oppression and bloodshed for over seven decades. He reaffirmed that the sacrifices made by Hurriyat leaders, activists, and ordinary Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom will not be forgotten.
The APHC urged the international community to intervene and resolve the Kashmir dispute according to UN resolutions. They emphasized that the situation in the region is critical and requires immediate attention to prevent further oppression and suffering of the Kashmiri people.
