Massive Crackdown in IIOJK: Over 1500 Kashmiris Detained Amid Widespread House Raids
April 24, 2025Under the cover of counter-terrorism, Indian forces have intensified operations across IIOJK, sparking widespread fear and unrest among innocent civilians.
In a recent escalation of military activity, Indian forces have launched an extensive crackdown in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under the guise of the “Pahlgama incident.” This large-scale operation has resulted in the arrest of over 1,500 innocent Kashmiris, triggering alarm among local and international observers alike.
The operations, marked by night raids and mass detentions, have targeted various districts, including Srinagar, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Islamabad, Ganderbal, and Budgam. Reports from these regions highlight increasing harassment and intimidation by Indian military personnel. Local residents and families of detainees have raised serious concerns about the unlawful nature of the arrests and the human rights violations being carried out during these operations.
Inmates have recounted instances of threats, mental abuse, and physical intimidation, further exacerbating tensions in the conflict-stricken valley. Armed with sweeping powers, the Indian Army, along with paramilitary forces and the Special Operations Group (SOG), conducted door-to-door raids, leaving entire communities in a state of panic.
Similar operations were carried out in parts of the Jammu region, where a significant military presence was observed. The Dudu-Basantgarh area in the Udhampur district became the focus of one of the larger operations. According to Indian officials, the operation was initiated based on intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of militants in the area.
An official statement claimed that as troops approached the suspected hideout, they were met with gunfire, leading to a prolonged armed encounter. “Exchange of fire is ongoing, and additional information will be shared,” the spokesperson added. This event underscores the intensifying conflict and the increasing militarization of the region.
Meanwhile, in the Tangmarg area of Kulgam district, a military offensive has continued into its second day. The prolonged nature of these operations raises concerns about the ongoing occupation and aggressive military tactics being employed by Indian forces in civilian areas.
The use of military force against unarmed populations has drawn criticism from human rights organizations, who have long accused Indian authorities of using the guise of security to suppress dissent and stifle the voice of Kashmiris.
These developments are not just tactical but deeply political. The suppression of civil liberties, arbitrary arrests, and militarized policing reflect broader attempts to assert control over the Kashmiri population while undermining their right to self-determination.
