APHC Condemns Indian Atrocities in IIOJK, Vows to Continue Fight for UN-Mandated Plebiscite
June 10, 2025The people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to endure brutal oppression, but their unwavering call for freedom and justice echoes louder with each passing day.
In IIOJK, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the continued crackdown by Indian forces. The organization has reiterated that no amount of oppression will deter the Kashmiri people from their rightful demand for a UN-mandated plebiscite.
The APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement from Srinagar, denouncing a recent spike in Indian state-led atrocities. These include restrictions on political activity, illegal raids on homes, property seizures, and continuous cordon-and-search operations across the region.
Minhas highlighted that Indian forces are systematically targeting the civilian population to silence dissent. Despite these actions, the APHC affirms that the demand for Kashmir’s self-determination remains unshaken.
The APHC leader paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the Chhota Bazaar massacre, which took place on June 11, 1991. On that day, Indian troops opened indiscriminate fire on unarmed civilians in Srinagar, killing dozens of shopkeepers, women, and children. Minhas stated that this act of brutality is a painful reminder of India’s ongoing repression but also a symbol of the Kashmiri people’s sacrifice.
He emphasized that the mission of the martyrs will not go in vain. According to him, their sacrifices fuel the resolve of the people, and their vision of freedom will be achieved, no matter how long it takes.
Minhas also condemned the misuse of draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). These laws, he said, are being weaponized to arbitrarily detain Kashmiri political leaders and young people. Thousands remain behind bars simply for advocating for their basic rights.
Despite this, the APHC maintains that India’s repressive tactics cannot crush the will of Kashmiris. The people of Kashmir remain united and determined in their peaceful struggle for freedom.
The APHC has called on the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres and the OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha to take urgent notice of these violations. The group urged international organizations to intervene and pressure India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
This renewed appeal comes amid increasing global concern over human rights violations in Kashmir and the Indian government’s heavy-handed approach in silencing political voices in the region.
