APHC Blasts Modi Regime for Blocking Peaceful Resolution of Kashmir Conflict
April 16, 2025As international support for Kashmir’s right to self-determination grows, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) accuses India’s ruling party of standing in the way of peace.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has criticized the BJP-led Indian government for obstructing efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations resolutions. In a statement released from Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas emphasized that the BJP is the primary barrier preventing Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) from exercising their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
According to Minhas, the global community increasingly acknowledges the Kashmir freedom movement as a legitimate and just struggle. However, he claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he held responsible for the massacre of 3,000 Muslims in the 2002 Gujarat riots, remains a major obstacle to resolving the issue peacefully.
Minhas stated that the Modi government, driven by a Hindutva ideology, has filled top posts in India’s military and civil institutions with individuals who support its communal agenda. He warned that this ideological alignment is not just aimed at undermining Kashmiris, but also targets other minority groups across India, including Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, and Dalits.
The APHC further condemned individuals and organizations that back India’s occupation of IIOJK, calling out their efforts to dilute the region’s resistance movement. The spokesman asserted that pro-India political entities are pressuring the resistance leadership to accept the existing status quo, but Kashmiris remain steadfast in honoring the sacrifices of their martyrs.
One contentious issue addressed in the statement was the proposal to create separate residential townships for displaced Kashmiri Pandits. The APHC rejected this idea outright, urging the Pandit community to return to their ancestral homes and live peacefully alongside their Muslim neighbors, as they had done for generations.
The statement also strongly denounced the increasing number of cordon-and-search operations, home raids, and property seizures carried out by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). According to the APHC, these tactics are being used to suppress voices calling for freedom and justice in the region.
The APHC spokesperson described New Delhi’s aggressive military policy in IIOJK as not only a threat to regional stability but also a challenge to the conscience of the international community. He appealed to global institutions and human rights organizations to intervene and help end the ongoing repression in the occupied territory.
As the Kashmir conflict continues to attract global attention, the APHC’s latest remarks highlight the profound political, social, and military challenges that stand in the way of a peaceful resolution.
