Another property seizure in Kupwara by Indian police

In yet another instance of Modi government’s policy of dispossession in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian police have seized property of a Kashmiri man in Kupwara district.

Police confiscated land worth several lacs belonging to Abdullah Ganie in the Palpora Qaziabad area of Handwara. The action was taken under the orders of New Delhi-appointed Governor Manoj Sinha.

Occupation authorities alleged that Ganie was associated with the freedom movement, a frequent pretext used to targed and punish Kashmiris. In order to provide legal cover for the seizure, police cited an order from the Additional Sessions Court Handwara, though such orders are seen as instruments of state repression.
