On January 5th, 2025, APHC-AJK will lead a powerful protest in Muzaffarabad, demanding Kashmir’s right to self-determination and an end to Indian oppression.

On January 5th, 2025, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter will organize a protest rally in Muzaffarabad to mark Right to Self-Determination Day. The rally aims to reiterate the Kashmiri people’s unyielding demand for the right to self-determination and to protest against Indian oppression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The organizing committee, headed by prominent APHC-AJK leaders including Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, and Ghulam Muhammad Safi, has been working tirelessly to coordinate with political figures and refugee leaders to ensure a broad-based participation. They have met with key figures such as Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar and Opposition Leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed to invite them to join the rally and lend their support.

The rally will be led by APHC-AJK Convenor Ghulam Muhammad Safi, alongside other prominent Kashmiri leaders, who will take to the streets of Muzaffarabad to demand international action. Hurriyat leaders have expressed their determination to call on the United Nations Security Council to facilitate a free, fair, and impartial plebiscite for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in line with its resolutions.

In addition, they are urging the people of Kashmir to unite in their call for a referendum that will end the Indian military occupation and the state-sponsored terrorism that continues to terrorize the Kashmiri population. The protest serves as a reminder of the ongoing resistance against India’s brutal occupation, and the Hurriyat leaders are adamant that the world must take notice and act to uphold the rights of the Kashmiri people.

Ahead of the rally, the Hurriyat leaders have also called on Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar and Opposition Leader Khawaja Farooq Ahmed to introduce a unanimous resolution in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly on January 2nd, urging the implementation of UN resolutions concerning Kashmir’s right to self-determination. This move is expected to strengthen the political and diplomatic pressure on the international community to address the Kashmir dispute in a just and equitable manner.

The January 5th rally will be a pivotal moment for the Kashmir cause, as APHC-AJK continues to push for global recognition of Kashmir’s right to self-determination and an end to the relentless oppression faced by the people of IIOJK.
