India’s Campaign to Attach Kashmiris’ Properties and Erase Their Identity
December 27, 2024India’s systematic dispossession of Kashmiris’ land is not just a violation of rights but a calculated move to erase their identity and alter the region’s demographics.
Once again, the BJP-led Indian government is engaged in an aggressive campaign to strip Kashmiris of their land and suppress their political voice. Under the leadership of the BJP-installed Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, authorities in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have targeted the properties of three Kashmiris in Rajouri district.
The authorities seized land measuring 7 kanals and 15 marlas belonging to Khadim Hussain, Muneer Hussain, and Mohammad Shabbir in the Kandi, Gakhrote, and Panjnara areas. These actions are part of a ruthless agenda to undermine the Kashmiris’ resistance to Indian rule.
A police official confirmed that the properties were seized under India’s oppressive laws, targeting individuals who are involved in anti-India and pro-freedom activities. The move is yet another example of India’s ongoing war against the people of IIOJK, aimed at crushing their spirit and stifling any opposition to its occupation.
This recent action is not isolated. It is part of a larger, increasingly violent campaign initiated after the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019. The Indian government’s efforts to seize land have become more aggressive, with Kashmiris losing their properties at an alarming rate.
Critics argue that these seizures are not mere legal actions, but a part of a deliberate strategy to change the region’s demographic landscape. By dispossessing local Kashmiris of their land, India is making way for non-Kashmiris to settle in the region, thus diluting the indigenous Kashmiri identity. This tactic aims to undermine the local population’s rights and freedoms, ultimately altering the region’s social and cultural fabric.
The core objective of these actions is clear: to marginalize the Kashmiri people and solidify India’s control over the region. These land grabs are not about law enforcement or national security—they are about subjugation and occupation. India’s policies serve only to strip the Kashmiris of their dignity, property, and future.
Kashmiris’ fight for freedom continues, but India’s brutal tactics only intensify. The world must recognize this as a clear violation of human rights and the ongoing genocide against the Kashmiri people. This is not just a fight for land; it is a fight for survival, identity, and justice.
