The APHC leaders demanded that India be held accountable for its severe human rights violations and heinous crimes against Kashmiri women.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) has condemned India’s systematic use of violence against women in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a weapon of war. This grave injustice demands urgent international attention.

On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, APHC-AJK leaders, including Ghulam Muhammad Safi and Shamim Shawl, highlighted the horrific plight of Kashmiri women. Indian state terrorism, they emphasized, has left women in IIOJK in a state of constant fear and agony.

Indian soldiers operate with impunity under draconian laws that allow them to desecrate the dignity of Kashmiri women. Since the illegal revocation of Kashmir’s special status on August 5, 2019, Modi’s regime has further enabled forces to harass, detain, and target women while trampling on their social and human rights.

APHC leaders pointed out the plight of women like Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, and Fehmeeda Sufi, who have languished in India’s notorious Tihar Jail and other prisons for over five years. These women are imprisoned under fabricated charges, enduring deplorable conditions.

Beyond physical violence, Indian forces inflict psychological torture on Kashmiri women by killing their loved ones, orchestrating arrests, and carrying out enforced disappearances. Sexual harassment is a daily tool of humiliation, designed to break the spirit of the Kashmiri people.

The Hurriyat leaders called for international human rights organizations to take meaningful action. They demanded that India be held accountable for its gross violations of human rights and heinous crimes against Kashmiri women.

On this global day of awareness, the APHC-AJK has appealed to the international community to intervene. They urge world leaders to exert pressure on India to cease its atrocities, massacres, and state-sponsored terrorism in IIOJK.

This violence is not random but part of a calculated agenda to crush Kashmiri resistance. The silence of the global community only emboldens India’s brutality. It’s time to expose and end this war on women.
