A sweeping series of house raids by Indian forces in IIOJK has stirred deep concern among locals, as homes of pro-freedom activists and their relatives were targeted in what many view as a campaign of intimidation.

In yet another surge of security operations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Indian forces launched extensive house raids across Poonch district, reportedly to suppress pro-freedom sentiment in the region.

According to local sources and officials, raids were carried out at nearly 18 locations, with a particular focus on homes belonging to pro-freedom activists and their family members. Residents described the actions as an attempt to create fear and harassment within the community.

According to a police official, several electronic devices were seized during the searches. The operations were still ongoing in some areas at the time of the report, leaving residents in a state of anxiety and uncertainty.

In a parallel crackdown, the Indian police and the State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted additional raids at 11 locations across Kashmir (IIOJK). Several youth were detained for questioning as part of what officials described as an ongoing investigation into pro-freedom activities.

These joint operations have raised alarm among human rights observers and civil society groups, who view them as part of a broader strategy to silence dissent and discourage political activism. Critics argue that the increasing frequency of such raids, often without transparent legal proceedings, reflects an erosion of civil liberties in the region.

Meanwhile, security personnel also raided homes in the Mandi area of Poonch district, continuing the pattern of aggressive surveillance and enforcement in southern IIOJK. These raids have reportedly led to the disruption of daily life and deepened public mistrust toward the authorities.

Local residents have expressed frustration and fear over the operations, particularly the practice of targeting families linked to known activists. They believe that such tactics are intended to intimidate the population and suppress voices advocating for IIOJK’s right to self-determination.

The absence of clear legal charges or court oversight in many of these actions further contributes to the perception of arbitrary enforcement. Civil society groups have called for accountability and judicial scrutiny over these raids to prevent abuse of power.
