Social media users have launched a campaign demanding the release of student leader Umar Khalid and other Muslim activists jailed for 1400 days on alleged fake charges.

Using hashtags #UmarKhalid1400DaysInJail and #ReleasePoliticalPrisoners, the campaign calls for their immediate release. Khalid and others were leading protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Prominent figures, including Bollywood actors, journalists, and a Rajya Sabha MP, have joined the campaign. They describe the incarceration as a “travesty of justice” and a “punishment for speaking up against the Modi government’s controversial laws.”
