India Harms Kashmiris: Saghar Calls for Global Intervention Amid Pahalgam Incident
May 6, 2025As tensions flare in South Asia, Hurriyat leader Mahmood Ahmed Saghar warns the world of the dangerous consequences of India’s oppressive tactics and its attempts to scapegoat Pakistan over the IIOJK crisis.
Acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, has strongly criticized India’s ongoing efforts to malign Pakistan and suppress the Kashmiri freedom movement.
In a recent statement, Saghar pointed out that India is exploiting the Pahalgam incident to justify a hostile narrative against Pakistan. Simultaneously, Indian forces have intensified their crackdown on Kashmiris through arbitrary arrests, raids, and home demolitions, deepening the crisis on the ground.
Despite India’s provocations, Saghar lauded Pakistan for its measured response and for maintaining a realistic diplomatic approach. He emphasized that Pakistan’s restraint has prevented the situation from spiraling further and has exposed India’s destabilizing tactics.
Saghar condemned India’s unilateral decisions, including its suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the expulsion of Pakistani nationals. According to him, these actions reflect New Delhi’s extremist and authoritarian mindset, which poses a serious risk to regional peace and stability.
Calling India’s approach “irresponsible and unjustified,” Saghar said such behavior only adds fuel to an already volatile situation. He urged the international community to intervene before tensions between two nuclear-armed nations escalate into a full-blown conflict.
He stressed that the unresolved Kashmir dispute lies at the heart of ongoing regional instability. Unless addressed within its historical and legal context, bloodshed and violence will continue, and incidents like the one in Pahalgam are likely to repeat.
Saghar warned that blaming Pakistan for such events and tightening India’s grip on IIOJK will not change the harsh realities faced by its people. Instead, it will deepen resentment and prolong suffering in the region.
The Hurriyat leader concluded by reiterating his appeal to the global powers and international organizations, urging them to step in for a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir conflict. He stressed that lasting peace in South Asia hinges on resolving this longstanding issue as per UN Security Council resolutions.
