As India’s Hindutva-driven policies tighten their grip on IIOJK, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) calls on the international community to honor its promises to the Kashmiri people and uphold their right to self-determination.

On the 77th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 47, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) reaffirmed that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) remain united in resisting the BJP-RSS-led Hindutva agenda.

APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, speaking from Srinagar, urged the United Nations to act on its long-standing commitment. He emphasized that Resolution 47 clearly mandates a free and impartial plebiscite to allow Kashmiris to determine their political future.

He praised the enduring sacrifices made by the people of IIOJK and their leadership. Many of these leaders have been under illegal detention for over eight years, including Massrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, and others. Their continued imprisonment, he noted, highlights India’s attempt to silence pro-freedom voices.

Minhas also condemned the Indian government’s propaganda against the Hurriyat leadership. He stressed that the APHC is not just a political coalition but a symbol of Kashmiris’ aspirations and resistance. He called on the masses to remain vigilant and unified in exposing and defeating every move aimed at undermining their cause.

The APHC also warned that several collaborator groups are working hand-in-hand with extremist organizations to push the RSS-BJP’s divisive goals in IIOJK. Despite this, the movement for freedom and justice will continue, the spokesman asserted, until the vision of the martyrs is fulfilled.

Responding to statements from the BJP government about Kashmir and Pakistan, the APHC dismissed them as baseless and historically inaccurate. “The BJP’s rhetoric cannot change the reality that Kashmir’s future lies in the will of its people,” said Minhas. He urged India to honor the promises it made in 1948 through UN resolutions—specifically the right of Kashmiris to decide their own fate via plebiscite.

The APHC also condemned ongoing human rights violations in the region. Tactics such as cordon-and-search operations, property seizures, home raids, and arbitrary detentions under black laws are being used to intimidate civilians. Yet, these oppressive strategies have failed to weaken the Kashmiri spirit.

UN Resolution 47, adopted on April 21, 1948, was intended to facilitate peace between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir dispute. It reaffirmed the Kashmiri people’s right to a plebiscite and directed the UN Commission to oversee this democratic process.

Despite the passing decades, the Kashmir conflict remains unresolved. The APHC’s statement is a reminder to the global community: Kashmiris are not backing down, and the call for justice is louder than ever.
