IIOJK Under Seige: Thousands of Kashmiris Arrested
April 27, 2025In a brutal crackdown, Indian forces have arrested thousands and destroyed homes in IIOJK, escalating fear and unrest across the occupied territory.
Indian forces have escalated their oppressive measures in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), arresting more than 2,000 Kashmiris during widespread crackdowns across various districts.
During massive cordon and search operations, troops rounded up mostly young Kashmiris from areas including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kupwara, Baramulla, Budgam, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, and Kulgam. The detainees were forcibly taken to police stations and army camps, where reports suggest they are being subjected to intense interrogation.
In Islamabad district alone, more than 175 individuals have been arrested as part of the ongoing operation. A spokesperson for the Indian police confirmed that house raids and search operations were intensified, leading to the detention of a large number of residents.
To tighten control even further, Indian forces have established additional checkpoints and have significantly ramped up patrolling throughout the district. High-density forest areas are being particularly targeted, with ambushes and patrols now a regular occurrence.
The latest wave of arrests follows the April 22 incident in Pahalgam, after which Indian troops and paramilitary forces expanded their crackdown. Arbitrary detentions, aggressive house raids, and violent searches have become increasingly common across the Valley.
Adding to the suffering, Indian forces have also launched a ruthless campaign of home demolitions. In the past day alone, seven ancestral homes belonging to pro-freedom Kashmiris were destroyed using high-intensity explosives.
Eyewitnesses describe harrowing scenes of families being driven out of their homes before witnessing their houses being reduced to rubble. The demolitions are seen by many as a brutal form of collective punishment aimed at crushing the spirit of resistance.
Human rights groups have condemned these actions, labeling them as severe violations of international law. Observers warn that such tactics will only inflame tensions further, pushing IIOJK deeper into a humanitarian and political crisis.
Despite these repressive measures, the Kashmiri people continue to show resilience, refusing to bow to the ongoing campaign of terror. Calls for international intervention are growing louder, with demands that India be held accountable for its actions in the occupied territory.
