APHC Highlights India’s War Crimes in IIOJK
May 20, 2025As repression intensifies in IIOJK, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has issued a powerful call for unity among Kashmiris and urged the international community to act against ongoing war crimes.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has urged Kashmiris worldwide, including those on both sides of the Line of Control, to unite against India’s occupation, political repression, and violent operations targeting civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement from Srinagar, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas expressed grave concern over the worsening human rights situation in the region. He highlighted that thousands of Kashmiris, including activists, have been arrested during sweeping house raids and remain jailed under controversial and repressive laws.
Minhas accused the Indian government of attempting to conceal its war crimes by sending delegations abroad to promote misleading narratives. He reaffirmed that IIOJK is a disputed territory, and stressed that the international community has a responsibility to work towards a peaceful resolution. Such a resolution, he said, is essential for regional peace, stability, and economic growth in South Asia.
According to the APHC, the BJP-led Indian government has turned IIOJK into a militarized zone, deploying a vast number of army, police, and paramilitary forces to stifle the ongoing freedom movement. Despite these heavy-handed measures, Minhas asserted, India cannot extinguish the spirit of resistance or deceive the world with its propaganda tactics.
He emphasized that the current regime is punishing Kashmiris for demanding political justice and resisting the illegal occupation of their homeland. Reports of widespread search operations and raids in major towns and cities have surfaced, with residents facing daily harassment and intimidation at the hands of security forces.
Minhas also criticized India’s claim of being the “world’s largest democracy,” stating that in IIOJK, the basic rights to life, protest, and freedom of expression are routinely denied. He painted a poor picture of daily life in the region, marked by disgrace, humiliation, and constant surveillance.
He reiterated that the people of IIOJK have a legitimate right to self-determination, a right recognized by UN resolutions. He called upon the international community, human rights organizations, and democratic nations to pressure the Indian government to respect the will of the Kashmiri people and allow them to voice their aspirations freely.
