India’s Settler Colonial Agenda in IIOJK
March 3, 2025As the world watches, India’s aggressive policies in IIOJK are steadily mirroring Israel’s tactics in Palestine, raising serious human rights concerns and fueling calls for international intervention.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the actions of the Modi-led Indian government, accusing it of accelerating its settler colonial project in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The APHC claims these actions, which resemble the brutal occupation tactics seen in Palestine, are aimed at altering the region’s demographic and cultural landscape. This alarming development has sparked widespread criticism from human rights groups and international observers.
According to APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, India is deliberately attempting to turn IIOJK from a Muslim-majority region into a Hindu-dominated territory. This, he argues, is being achieved through a combination of land confiscation, economic deprivation, and demographic engineering. These tactics, Minhas claims, are designed to undermine the local Kashmiri population, stripping them of political, economic, and cultural power.
The APHC reminds the public that India’s aggressive policies towards IIOJK are not new. Since India’s military intervention in the region on October 27, 1947, the Indian government has sought to marginalize the indigenous Kashmiri people. The ongoing implementation of controversial policies, including the illegal seizure of Kashmiri properties, the dismissal of local government employees, and the settlement of non-Kashmiri Hindus in the region, are seen as part of a calculated strategy to disempower the native population.
These actions are viewed as a part of a broader agenda aimed at eradicating Kashmiri identity and culture. The APHC warns that India’s ultimate goal is the creation of a Hindu settler colony in the heart of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Modi government’s actions have been condemned by various international bodies and human rights organizations, with many accusing India of violating United Nations resolutions on Kashmir. These resolutions, according to APHC, call for the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people, which India’s policies directly oppose.
Despite these international condemnations, the APHC criticizes the lack of meaningful action from the global community. Advocate Minhas argues that the world’s silence only emboldens India to continue its aggressive policies. He calls for stronger international intervention to stop India’s settler colonial project and ensure the rights of the Kashmiri people are upheld.
As the situation in IIOJK continues to deteriorate, calls for global intervention are growing louder. The international community must take a firm stand against India’s settler colonial tactics and demand respect for the rights of the Kashmiri people. Failure to act could lead to further marginalization and eventual erasure of the Kashmiri identity.
