After over 50 days of uncertainty, the residents of Budhal in Rajouri, IIOJK, are slowly resuming normal life, but the unresolved mystery behind the illness that claimed 17 lives still looms large, leaving locals demanding urgent answers.

After enduring over 50 days of fear and uncertainty, life in Budhal, Rajouri, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), is gradually returning to normal following an outbreak of a mysterious illness that claimed the lives of 17 residents. The deaths, which began on December 8, sent shockwaves through the community, and locals are still awaiting answers about the root cause of the illness.

Despite the passage of time, the authorities have yet to provide any definitive explanation, and this lack of clarity has sparked frustration among residents. Locals are calling for immediate action to determine the exact cause of the deaths, stressing the need for appropriate safety measures to be implemented so that life can return to normal without fear of further outbreaks.

The investigation into the cause of the mysterious illness has been slow, with no official explanation forthcoming from the government. According to local sources, many of the affected individuals were admitted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri and have since recovered, though they remain under observation. Health officials have indicated that the antidotes provided to patients have been effective, but they are still awaiting conclusive evidence, with forensic reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) pending.

In the midst of this uncertainty, MLA Budhal, Javed Iqbal Choudhary, has expressed deep concern over the delayed investigation. He criticized the government’s failure to prioritize the issue and release official FSL or test reports nearly two months after the first death. Choudhary emphasized that the situation should have been treated as a health emergency and handled with greater urgency.

Locals are growing increasingly impatient, fearing that the delayed investigation and lack of transparency could result in further risks to public health. They have urged the government to expedite the process and provide them with a clear understanding of what caused the deaths, as well as what measures will be put in place to prevent such occurrences in the future.

As Budhal slowly recovers from the tragedy, the unresolved questions surrounding the mysterious illness remain a source of tension and concern for the community, which continues to demand justice and accountability from the authorities.
