Muslim Man Forced by Hindutva Leader and Police to Convert to Hinduism

New Delhi: Fateh Uddin, a Muslim resident of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, has alleged that he was forcibly converted to Hinduism while in police custody on December 14. The incident, involving the Sitapur Superintendent of Police and a prominent Hindutva leader, has sparked outrage and raised concerns about religious freedom and abuse of power.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Uddin claimed that he was threatened with false charges of arms possession and dire consequences for his family if he refused to convert. In a viral video, he detailed how he initially resisted but eventually succumbed to the pressure and intimidation.

“I was coerced into renouncing my faith under threat of false accusations and the potential destruction of my family. This act violates my fundamental rights,” Uddin stated in the video.

The incident has drawn widespread condemnation from activists, community leaders, and social media users, who are calling for an immediate investigation and accountability. Many have described the forced conversion as a blatant violation of India’s constitutional guarantee of religious freedom.
