Mirwaiz Slams Indian Police for Killing Muslim Youths in Uttar Pradesh
November 26, 2024The killing of four Muslim youths by Indian police during a court-ordered mosque survey in Uttar Pradesh exposes the deep-rooted communal bias under BJP rule. This blatant display of brutality has sparked widespread outrage and intensified criticism against the Modi regime’s systemic targeting of minorities.
The victims, Naeem, Bilal, and Noman, were killed on Sunday when police opened fire on Muslim protesters opposing the controversial survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal district. A fourth victim, a 19-year-old, succumbed to injuries later, escalating the death toll. These killings underscore a disturbing trend of using state machinery to oppress marginalized communities.
Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the incident as a shocking act of police brutality. Speaking from Srinagar, he called out the Modi government for fostering a culture where minorities are treated as expendable and exploited for political gain. He emphasized that the state-sanctioned violence reflects a calculated agenda aimed at polarizing society.
“The lives of minorities are cheapened, used as mere tools in political games,” Mirwaiz remarked. He highlighted the increasing trend of questioning the status of centuries-old mosques, branding it a deliberate attempt to provoke communal unrest. “This divisive strategy serves to entrench communal lines and consolidate power for the ruling regime,” he added.
Mirwaiz demanded a transparent investigation into the killings and called for those responsible to face justice. “This dangerous mindset jeopardizes the unity and safety of India’s citizens and must be confronted,” he stated.
Political opposition leaders have also voiced their condemnation of the incident. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP government of orchestrating riots, while Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the violence as a deliberate effort to create communal divisions.
The BJP’s tactics of stoking communal tensions by targeting religious sites and suppressing dissent lay bare their Hindutva-driven agenda. The killing of innocent protesters is not an isolated incident but part of a larger pattern of repression. The use of state violence to silence opposition and provoke fear is eroding the very fabric of Indian democracy.
International human rights organizations and the global community must take note of these atrocities and demand accountability from the Indian government. Without intervention, the situation risks spiraling into unchecked chaos, leaving minorities perpetually vulnerable to state-sponsored terror.
