Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir has condemned India’s ongoing human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), attributing them to the Hindutva ideology driving Indian policies. Speaking at the Margallah Dialogue 2024 in Islamabad, General Munir emphasized that resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people is indispensable for peace in the region.
He criticized India’s extremist policies, noting their adverse impact on minorities not only in India but also in countries like the UK, US, and Canada. General Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent support for ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon and reiterated its demand for an independent Palestinian state.
Addressing global issues, General Munir highlighted state-sponsored terrorism, the rapid spread of misinformation, and increasing global division along religious, sectarian, and ethnic lines as critical challenges. He emphasized the transformative role of technology in disseminating information and underscored the rising inequality and intolerance globally.
Turning to Pakistan, General Munir pointed out the nation’s demographic advantage, with 63% of its population under 30, and its rich natural resources. He stressed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering regional and global peace, asserting that the country would continue playing a constructive role on the world stage.
