Exposing India’s Fake Normalcy Claims: The Struggle for IIOJK’s Self-Determination
October 31, 2024The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned India’s brutal military tactics aimed at crushing the legitimate struggle for self-determination in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Munhas delivered a stark message after a recent meeting in Srinagar. Participants unanimously agreed that India’s oppressive measures will not silence the voices of Kashmiris demanding freedom.
The meeting criticized India’s relentless military presence in the region. “Anyone who dares to speak against the Indian forces’ oppression is met with torture and coercion,” the statement emphasized. This is a chilling reality for those living under constant surveillance and fear.
APHC leaders expressed deep concern over India’s oppressive policies, which seem designed to instill terror among the local population. These measures aim to manipulate the region’s demographic balance and suppress the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
“It’s clear: India’s strategy is to forcefully deny Kashmiris their rightful claim to freedom,” the meeting declared. This blatant disregard for human rights is not merely a tactic but a long-term plan to subjugate the population.
The discussion highlighted India’s extensive use of draconian laws, such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA), and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). These laws grant unchecked powers to Indian forces, allowing them to operate with impunity.
APHC leaders called on the international community to take a stand against India’s human rights abuses. They urged global leaders to pressure New Delhi to revoke these oppressive laws, which facilitate a climate of fear and violence.
The plight of prominent political prisoners was another focal point of concern. Leaders named several detainees, including Masarat Aalam Butt and Muhammad Yasin Malik, demanding their immediate release from unlawful detention.
These political prisoners are symbols of the Kashmir struggle, and their continued imprisonment underscores the oppressive nature of Indian rule. The APHC’s demand for their release highlights the urgent need for international intervention.
The meeting was attended by various representatives from the Hurriyat Conference, demonstrating a united front against India’s oppressive regime. Their collective voices resonate with a powerful message: the quest for freedom in IIOJK cannot be extinguished.
India’s attempts to suppress dissent through violence and intimidation will ultimately fail. The resilience of the Kashmiri people stands as a testament to their unwavering commitment to justice and self-determination.
The world must not remain silent in the face of such brutality. Awareness and actions are essential in supporting the Kashmiri struggle for freedom, as the true story of oppression must be told and heard.
