Terror Network Exposed in AJK: Major Crackdown by Authorities
April 18, 2025Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) security forces have uncovered a major terrorist network, exposing a dangerous plot aimed at destabilizing the region’s long-standing peace.
A significant terrorist network operating within Azad Kashmir (AJK) has been exposed, setting off swift action from the region’s security forces. The development was announced during a joint press conference by AJK Interior Minister Waqar Noor and Inspector General Rana Abdul Jabbar.
Minister Waqar Noor revealed that certain disruptive elements, under the pretense of fighting for rights, were pursuing hidden agendas aimed at spreading unrest in the peaceful region.
The case gained urgency following a tragic incident on October 27, 2024, when Constable Sajjad Resham was killed in a targeted firing at the Shujaabad checkpoint. This act of violence prompted an immediate investigation, leading authorities to several suspicious individuals.
Key suspects identified include Zarnosh Naseem alias Qasim, Usama alias Muhammad, and Hanzala alias Ulfat. The investigation progressed further on March 19, 2025, when Saqib Ghani was arrested at Azad Pattan entry point, found in possession of heavy weaponry.
During interrogation, Saqib admitted his links with the core members of the network. Authorities now believe that the group was not only behind Constable Sajjad’s murder but also responsible for an attempted arson attack on City Police Station Bagh.
The network’s activities were not limited to Azad Kashmir. The suspects were also involved in violent attacks on Motorway Police in Islamabad and at the Sangjani Toll Plaza
Further intelligence revealed that the group had been planning assaults on sensitive locations, heightening national security concerns.
One of the accused, Usama, voluntarily surrendered after realizing the true intentions behind the group’s actions. His cooperation led to the recovery of grenades and pistols, offering further evidence of the planned subversive operations.
All suspects later confessed during interrogation, and in recorded video statements, admitted to being part of a broader terror network operating within the region.
Another major figure, Ghazi Shehzad, escaped from Rawalakot Jail and is currently at large. Intelligence confirms that he has connections with hostile agencies based in Afghanistan.
In Afghanistan, a terrorist named Abdul Rauf, along with a group called ‘Fitna Al-Khoraj’, is said to be manipulating vulnerable youth by using religion as a tool for radicalization.
Minister Waqar Noor stated that intelligence reports suggest India is allegedly offering shelter, funding, and training to some of these disruptive elements. He emphasized that evidence has been collected linking these groups to recent incidents in the region.
Legal action is underway against all individuals involved in facilitating these acts. Minister Noor credited the vigilance and commitment of Azad Kashmir’s security agencies for preserving regional peace.
He called on citizens to act responsibly, report suspicious activity, and stand united with law enforcement agencies in protecting the peace of Azad Kashmir.
