A 35-year-old chemist, Amarjit Sharma, was found brutally murdered with his throat slit open near his home in Mela village, Hiranagar tehsil, late last night. The heinous crime has sparked widespread outrage among the local community.

Grieving relatives and neighbors staged a strong protest, blocking the highway and railway track for over four hours. Carrying Sharma’s body and chanting slogans, the protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits, disrupting both traffic and train movement.

Police and civil officers intervened, assuring the community of a thorough investigation. They promised strong legal action against the criminals. A Special Investigating Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the murder and arrest the accused.

The killing of Amarjit Sharma is yet another grim reminder of the normalization of violence and murder in Jammu and Kashmir. The territory has witnessed a surge in targeted killings, with numerous civilians falling victim to bullets and blades.

The relentless spate of killings has become an order of the day, highlighting the systemic failure to protect human life in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The impunity with which these crimes are committed underscores the urgent need for effective measures to ensure the safety and security of the region’s residents.
