APHC Says India Pursuing Settler Colonialism, Hindutva Agenda in IIOJK
October 14, 2025The recent appeal from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference is a desperate call for the world to see a dark reality. India is not just managing a disputed territory; it is actively engaged in a project of settler colonialism in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This long-term plan, accelerated under the Modi government, is meant to destroy the region’s unique identity and crush the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. The world’s continued silence allows New Delhi to push its dangerous plan without consequences.
A Legacy of Occupation Since 1947
The current crisis in Kashmir is rooted in a violent and illegal occupation that began decades ago.
♦ The Original Sin Of Occupation: India’s colonial relationship with Jammu and Kashmir started on October 27, 1947, when its troops landed in Srinagar. This was a forceful occupation against the will of the Kashmiri people.
♦ A Colony In All But Name: Since that day, New Delhi has treated Kashmir like its colony, taking its resources, crushing its political freedoms, and subjecting its people to a brutal military occupation while denying them the right to choose their future.
The Hindutva Agenda: Engineering Demographic Change
The ongoing colonization of Kashmir is the fulfillment of a long-held dream of the RSS and its political party, the BJP: to permanently change the population of the Muslim-majority region.
♦ The RSS And BJP’s Long Held Dream: The Hindutva ideology views a Muslim-majority state as a threat. Current policies are designed to dismantle this identity and remake Kashmir into a Hindu nation.
♦ Systematic Population Change: Through new laws and rules, India is actively encouraging non-Kashmiri Hindus to settle in the territory. This is a classic tactic to create new facts on the ground and make any future vote pointless.
Weaponising the Vote: Altering Kashmir’s Political Landscape
One of the most dishonest methods being used is the manipulation of the democratic process to take power away from the local Kashmiri people.
♦ The Inclusion Of Non Kashmiri Voters: The decision to add non-Kashmiri Hindus, like outside workers and soldiers, to the region’s voter lists is a calculated strategy to reduce the political power of the local population and ensure pro-BJP election results.
♦ A Dangerous Political Game Plan: This is not a step towards democracy but a move to cheat the system from the inside. By falsely increasing pro-India voters, the Modi government plans to install puppet governments that will approve its colonial policies.
The Myth of Normalcy Amidst State Terrorism
The Modi government constantly spreads a fake story of peace in Kashmir, but the reality is one of continued state terrorism and harsh oppression.
♦ Increased Campaigns Of Violence: Having failed to break the Kashmiri desire for freedom, the BJP government has increased its campaign of violence. Killings, random arrests, and night raids on homes are now daily events.
♦ Targeting The Youth Without Fear: Indian soldiers and police constantly target Kashmiri youth under the excuse of “cordon and search operations.” These are not for security but are tools of fear meant to terrorize the people into submission.
A Blatant Disregard for International Law
India’s actions in IIOJK are a clear violation of many international laws and agreements that protect people in conflict zones.
♦ Violations Of The Geneva Conventions: The policies of changing the population and punishing communities directly violate the Fourth Geneva Convention, which stops an occupying power from moving its own people into the territory it occupies.
♦ Ignoring UN Security Council Resolutions: This colonial project is an attempt to ignore the many UN Security Council resolutions that state Kashmir is a disputed territory and promise its people the right to self-determination through a fair vote.
A Call for Global Conscience and Action
The APHC has once again asked the international community and world powers to break their loud silence on the situation in Kashmir.
♦ The World’s Moral Duty: The United Nations and the global community have a moral and legal duty to get involved. Letting a member country openly ignore Security Council resolutions makes the international system look like a joke.
♦ Exposing India’s Dangerous Agenda: World powers must expose India’s political plan for what it is: a violent, colonial project. Real diplomatic and economic pressure is the only language New Delhi will understand.
The Unyielding Demand for Self-Determination
Despite the heavy use of force, the spirit of resistance among the Kashmiri people is not broken. Their demand is for complete freedom.
♦ A Legitimate Freedom Movement: India tries to paint the Kashmiri struggle as terrorism, but it is a rightful freedom movement to get the right to self-determination, a right promised to them by the world itself.
♦ The Only Path To Peace: Real peace will never come through military force. The only just and lasting solution is to follow the UN resolutions that let the Kashmiri people decide their own political future.
Conclusion: A Moral Test for the World
The situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is a moral test for the world. India, under the Modi government, is carrying out a textbook case of settler colonialism with the clear aim of changing the population. The story of normalcy is an empty lie, broken daily by military raids and the cries of families. The APHC’s call must be heard. The world must take real action to pressure India to end its illegal occupation and respect the UN-given right of the Kashmiri people to self-determination. To stay silent is to be a partner in this historic crime.
