The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) commended its Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, for his firm resolve as he completes seven years in Tihar Jail.

DFP’s acting chairman, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, stated from Islamabad that Shabbir Shah was essentially kidnapped from Srinagar. India’s National Investigation Agency arrested him on fabricated charges, leading to his prolonged detention in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Despite extensive charge-sheets against him, no concrete evidence has been presented. This reflects Shah’s experience of spending 38 years and six months in prison without substantiated allegations.

Shabbir Shah has spent half his life in various prisons and torture centers. Each time he was released, his transparent politics became evident. He advocates for resolving the Kashmir dispute per the Kashmiri people’s will. Although he believes in dialogue, he courageously calls out oppression.

Shah, along with other political prisoners like Muhammad Yasin Malik and Aasiya Andrabi, is making history through their resistance. They endure imprisonment while advocating for Kashmir’s freedom and justice. Saghar appealed to global justice-loving entities to address the Kashmir dispute, aligning with Kashmiri aspirations. He stressed the importance of preserving South Asia’s peace by resolving this long-standing issue
