During the ongoing elections in India, the color of the government TV channel’s logo has been changed from red to orange to support BJP electioneering.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also expressed concern over the change in the channel’s logo color.

Banerjee questioned how the Election Commission could allow the change of logo colors during the elections. Changing the color of the logo to orange is illegal.

On the other hand, former CEO of the channel ‘Doordarshan’ Jawhar Sarkar has also termed this move as ‘inappropriate’.

Sarkar said that seeing the ‘saffronization’ of the channel’s logo just before the elections is inappropriate. The national broadcasting agency chose saffron color for its branding.

Sarkar said that the change in the color of the logo of the channel ‘Doordarshan’ is a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
