Rising Persecution of Muslims in India: A Call for Global Action

Political analysts are sounding the alarm about the escalating persecution of Muslims in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration. Since Modi took office, attacks on Muslims have intensified, with Hindutva activists targeting the community with increasing impunity.

The 2020 Delhi riots, which resulted in the deaths of over 50 Muslims, and the recent demolition of Muslim homes in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, are stark illustrations of this growing violence. These incidents highlight a disturbing trend of state-sanctioned aggression against Muslims.

Across India, Muslims are facing escalating threats, harassment, and violence. This includes the frequent destruction of their homes and places of worship, particularly in states governed by the BJP. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), supported by the RSS, promotes Hindu supremacy, which has led to widespread discrimination against Muslims in various aspects of life.

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) have exacerbated this discrimination, leaving millions of Muslims at risk of disenfranchisement. These policies, coupled with a rise in Islamophobia, have created a perilous environment for the Muslim community.

Hindutva leaders have openly advocated for violence against Muslims, with figures like Giriraj Singh and Kapil Mishra making inflammatory statements that embolden activists to commit acts of violence. This hate speech has dangerously amplified the threat to Muslim safety.

Experts are warning of the potential for a genocide of Muslims in India, presenting a severe challenge to global peace and security. The international community, including the United Nations, is being urged to take immediate action to address and halt these hate crimes.

The growing influence of Hindutva ideologies poses a significant threat, not just to Muslims in India but to global stability. The current situation is dire, and the global community cannot afford to ignore the atrocities being committed.

“The situation is alarming,” a political analyst emphasized, “and the world must not turn a blind eye to the suffering of Muslims in India.” Immediate international intervention is critical to curb the violence and protect the rights and lives of millions facing persecution.
