Omar Abdullah Criticizes BJP’ Budget Neglecting IIOJK
July 25, 2024Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference (NC), has sharply criticized the BJP’s latest budget. He labeled it a “coalition bachao budget” that ignores the pressing needs of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a media interview, Abdullah highlighted the “coalition compulsions” in the BJP-led NDA government’s third term under Narendra Modi. He pointed out that the budget fails to address severe issues in IIOJK, saying there is nothing in it for the occupied territory.
Abdullah emphasized the severe problems faced by the people of IIOJK, including high unemployment rates and regressed development. He noted the lack of visible investment and the dire need for basic necessities like water and electricity.
“Investment was promised, but we don’t see it on the ground anywhere,” he said. “Today, people are screaming for water and electricity, so the sum total of our problems in Jammu and Kashmir has increased.”
He further criticized the government’s commitment, referencing a video of an Indian minister struggling to discuss his ministry’s budget allocation. Abdullah likened this situation to the current state of affairs in IIOJK and its Lieutenant Governor.
To conclude, Abdullah’s critique highlights the neglect of IIOJK in the BJP’s budget, highlighting the urgent needs of its people.
