Mehbooba Mufti Calls for Safeguarding Article 370 in IIOJK Amid BJP Criticism

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has called for urgent attention to the Kashmir issue and the protection of Article 370 in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). She stressed the importance of addressing these concerns to prevent their marginalization.

In a statement from Srinagar, Mufti condemned the BJP’s efforts to downplay the Kashmir issue. She argued that resolving this issue is essential and criticized the BJP’s attempts to overshadow it.

Mufti highlighted her party’s role in the upcoming IIOJK assembly elections, aiming to counter the BJP’s moves to undermine both the Kashmir issue and Article 370. Her focus is on ensuring that these matters remain at the forefront of political discourse.

The PDP leader criticized the BJP’s assertion of improved conditions in IIOJK. She noted the delay in elections over the past decade and emphasized the growing frustration among people. They are seeking a government that genuinely addresses their needs.

Mufti also responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comments about prominent political families, including the Abdullahs, Muftis, and Gandhis. She questioned the BJP’s failure to deliver on its promises, such as depositing Rs 15 lakh in every citizen’s account and creating two crore jobs annually.

Her comments reflect ongoing tensions and dissatisfaction with the current political situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Mufti’s statements underline her party’s commitment to advocating for Kashmir’s interests and holding the BJP accountable for its promises.
