Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is experiencing a mix of intermittent rains and fresh snowfall, with more of the same expected until mid-March, according to meteorological forecasts.

The Kashmir Valley, including IIOJK and surrounding areas, has been experiencing intermittent rains over the past several days, while some higher-altitude regions, such as the popular tourist destination of Gulmarg, have seen fresh snowfall. This weather pattern is expected to persist until the end of the week, according to the Meteorological Department.

In the past 24 hours, Srinagar recorded 10.6 mm of rainfall, while Kupwara, located in the northern part of the Valley, received 9.1 mm of rain. The famous hill station of Gulmarg saw 5.6 mm of rainfall during this period, while Pahalgam, another major tourist spot, recorded 5.8 mm of rain.

A spokesperson from the Meteorological Department confirmed that the current weather conditions, marked by intermittent rain and snow in higher regions, are likely to continue in the Kashmir Valley until March 16. After that, the weather is expected to remain generally dry from March 17 to March 21.

Tourists visiting the region can expect the ongoing rainfall and snow to continue impacting travel plans, particularly in the higher altitudes, which may affect road conditions. However, the weather’s expected dryness in the latter part of March may offer some relief and allow for clearer conditions for sightseeing and travel.

The Kashmir Valley will continue to experience rainy and snowy conditions through mid-March, with a shift to drier weather expected toward the end of the month.
