India’s Disinformation Tactics in IIOJK Will Fail, Says APHC
April 12, 2025The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned India’s latest wave of misinformation and repression in IIOJK, asserting that the Kashmiri struggle for freedom remains resolute despite mounting challenges.
In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has accused the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs of spreading false narratives to undermine the Kashmiri freedom movement and discredit Hurriyat leaders. According to the APHC, these tactics are designed to delegitimize the indigenous struggle for self-determination—but they are ultimately doomed to fail.
Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, APHC’s spokesperson, issued a statement from Srinagar, criticizing Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent visit to the region. Minhas claimed that Shah has authorized Indian forces and intelligence agencies to use extreme measures to suppress peaceful dissent and intimidate Kashmiris into silence.
A fresh wave of propaganda has been unleashed, Minhas noted, specifically targeting Hurriyat leaders. The government, he said, is misusing harsh laws to threaten, detain, and coerce political figures into making statements under pressure. This campaign, according to Minhas, is part of a broader effort to mislead the public and the global community while attempting to crush a peaceful movement through force.
Highlighting the scope of India’s repression, Minhas revealed that over 5,000 Kashmiris, including prominent Hurriyat leaders, are currently held in jails and detention centers across the country. These mass arrests, he argued, clearly reflect India’s harsh policy toward the people of Kashmir. Despite such oppressive strategies, the resistance leadership continues to stand firm in its call for the right to self-determination.
Minhas reaffirmed that the international community still considers IIOJK a disputed region, despite India’s efforts to project otherwise. He stressed that no level of propaganda can erase the reality of the dispute or the legitimacy of the Kashmiri cause. The people’s unwavering spirit, he said, has left Indian authorities frustrated and desperate.
He urged Kashmiris to remain vigilant against India’s divisive strategies and emphasized the need for unity. According to Minhas, only a united front can foil New Delhi’s conspiracies and strengthen the freedom movement. He reiterated that peace in South Asia remains unattainable without a fair and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
The APHC also condemned India’s ongoing cordon and search operations, illegal seizures of properties owned by Kashmiri Muslims, and the arbitrary dismissal of government employees. These actions, the group said, expose the true face of Indian democracy in the region.
Minhas called upon the United Nations and the international community to take serious notice of India’s continued human rights violations in IIOJK. He urged them to hold India accountable and support a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
