India exploiting illegal immigrants’ issue to create wedge between Pakistan, Afghanistan
October 19, 2023Pakistan has every right to take decisions whatever it deems in its interest, but surprisingly India has made it incumbent upon itself to raise hue and cry on them, every now and then.
Islamabad has recently decided to repatriate all illegal immigrants from the country and, by every aspect, the country has the right to do so.
However, India has started maligning Pakistan calling it an alleged mistreatment of Afghans despite the fact that authorities have made it clear on many occasions that the repatriation drive is not specific against any particular nationality.
However, New Delhi did not refrain from waging baseless propaganda against Pakistan and highlighted the issue out of proportion to create a wedge between Islamabad and Kabul.
Political analysts believe that unnecessary hype of repatriation of illegal immigrants including Afghan nationals by Pakistan is also a face-saving effort by India after closure of Afghan embassy in New Delhi and denial of visas to Afghan students.
On the other hand, Afghans residing in India for last 15 years are suffering from socio-economic ordeals as they have no mode of income, education or health facilities.
On the contrary, Pakistan although is not a signatory of 1951 Refugee Convention, but grants Afghan nationals a legal status of refugee making them eligible to access basic social services including education and health.
India, on the contrary, has revoked Afghan student visas despite knowing that thousands of Afghan students are dependent on its universities.
