In a disturbing incident in the Pulwama district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), activists associated with the Hindutva RSS and BJP are accused of vandalizing a mosque and attempting to disrespect the Holy Quran and a nearby shrine.

According to reports, members of the RSS/BJP, with the assistance of the Indian army, targeted the Dadsara-Tral area of the district between Thursday and Friday. They allegedly damaged the windowpanes of the mosque and made an attempt to disrespect the Quran and a shrine in the vicinity.

Dadsara-Tral holds significance as a stronghold of the Jamaat-e-Islami in IIOJK, where numerous youths have sacrificed their lives in the struggle for freedom from Indian occupation.

It’s noteworthy that the Indian army and paramilitary forces are often perceived as being aligned with the ideologies of the RSS and BJP. Allegations suggest they are advancing the Sang Parivar’s agendas, which are seen as anti-Kashmir and anti-Islam, within the occupied territory.

In response to the incident, the police have taken action by registering a case under relevant sections of the law, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.

This incident adds to the ongoing concerns regarding religious intolerance and violations of religious freedoms in IIOJK. Such actions not only undermine the sanctity of places of worship but also exacerbate tensions in an already volatile region. It underscores the urgent need for accountability and measures to protect the rights and religious practices of all communities in the region.
