Disillusioned Jammu Business Leader Resigns from BJP, Citing Unfulfilled Promises
November 11, 2024In Jammu, a prominent business leader has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressing disappointment over the party’s unfulfilled promises to address community concerns. Neeraj Anand, President of the Chamber of Traders Federation (Jammu), joined the BJP in October 2022 and took on the role of convener for the party’s industry cell in February.
Anand explained he joined the BJP, backed by his federation’s working committee, hoping it would help address the business community’s struggles following the 2019 revocation of Article 370 and the economic impact of Covid-19. However, he now feels that his expectations went unmet.
“The business community feels ignored by the political system,” he stated, adding that the federation plans to bring these issues forward with greater urgency, aiming to gain the attention of the recently formed National Conference government.
Anand underscored that Jammu’s business sector plays a critical role in regional economic stability and needs timely support, sustainable policies, and a proactive approach to foster growth and ease challenges in business operations.
