DFP Urges Global Action for Just Resolution of Kashmir Dispute
May 27, 2025As South Asia continues to grapple with regional instability, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has called upon the international community to act decisively for a peaceful and just resolution to the Kashmir conflict.
The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has once again appealed to world powers to play a meaningful role in resolving the Kashmir dispute, which remains the core cause of ongoing tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors India and Pakistan. In a statement issued from Srinagar, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal emphasized that the involvement of influential countries, especially the United States, could prove pivotal in guiding the region toward lasting peace.
Iqbal stressed that peace in South Asia is not possible without a sustainable, inclusive, and result-oriented dialogue process. He underlined the importance of involving all key stakeholders—particularly the genuine leadership of Kashmir—in any meaningful negotiations. According to the DFP, only a solution that truly reflects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people can lead to durable peace and stability in the region.
The spokesman reaffirmed that the Kashmiri leadership has consistently shown a willingness to engage in dialogue for a fair and dignified settlement of the decades-old issue. However, he expressed disappointment over India’s continued refusal to participate in sincere negotiations, stating that such an uncompromising stance only fuels further unrest.
Iqbal urged the Indian government to abandon its aggressive and rigid approach and instead resume the stalled peace talks. He warned that ignoring the voices of Kashmiris not only undermines democratic values but also perpetuates instability in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
Reiterating the party’s long-standing position, Iqbal insisted that any resolution of the Kashmir issue must prioritize the will and wishes of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He called on international human rights bodies and the global diplomatic community to ensure that the Kashmiris are given the right to determine their own political future.
The statement also highlighted the plight of political prisoners, particularly senior Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah, who has been languishing in Indian prisons for years. The DFP called for the immediate and unconditional release of all political detainees, condemning their incarceration as politically motivated and unjust.
The Democratic Freedom Party’s latest appeal adds to the growing chorus for a peaceful solution to the Kashmir conflict. As voices within the valley and abroad continue to demand justice, the urgency for global diplomatic engagement becomes clearer than ever.
