APHC Condemns India’s Militaristic Tactics in IIOJK

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has criticized India’s militaristic approach to the Kashmir conflict as “unrealistic and arrogant.” The group emphasized that a military solution cannot replace the UN-granted right to self-determination.

Masarrat Alam Butt, an APHC leader currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail, sent a message urging world leaders to take proactive steps regarding the human rights crisis in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Butt warned that continued indifference to the Kashmiri people’s legitimate demand for self-determination—backed by UN Security Council resolutions—could have severe consequences for both the region and the global community.

The APHC Chairman condemned India’s military tactics, which aim to suppress the political aspirations of Kashmiris. He highlighted ongoing violence, killings, torture, arrests, and humiliation following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019.

He disputed India’s assertions of normalcy in the region, stating that the situation has only worsened under military and police control. The heavy presence of security forces has stifled basic freedoms and heightened tensions in the area.

The APHC leader called on the UN Secretary-General to acknowledge the atrocities committed by India in IIOJK. He urged the UN to facilitate a resolution in line with Security Council resolutions to prevent further loss of life and property.
