The people of IIOJK continue to face severe oppression as India escalates its human rights violations to suppress their movement for self-determination.

The Convener of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Ghulam Muhammad Safi, has condemned India for its grave human rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He stated that India is using brutal tactics to crush the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi made these remarks at the launch event of Kashmiri writer Bashir Saduzai’s book, Kanan Poshpoora, organized by the Palestine Foundation Pakistan at the Karachi Press Club.

Several prominent figures attended the ceremony, including Sardar Nazakat from the Pakistan People’s Party, Mahfooz Yar Khan of MQM, Muslim Pervez from Jamaat-e-Islami, APHC-AJK General Secretary Advocate Pervez Shah, Chairman of the Kashmir Institute of International Relations Altaf Hussain Wani, and Jamshed Hussain.

During his address, Ghulam Muhammad Safi highlighted that India has given its military unchecked power and is using sexual violence against women as a weapon of war. He stressed that no action has been taken against those responsible for gang rapes, exposing the lack of justice in the region.

He praised Bashir Saduzai’s historical work and urged Pakistanis, especially the youth, to understand the immense struggles Kashmiris endure for the cause of Pakistan’s stability and unity. He reiterated that the people of Kashmir will never forget the tragic events of Kanan Poshpora.

Speaking at the event, Altaf Hussain Wani reaffirmed that Kashmiris remain resolute in their fight for freedom. He pointed out that despite India’s claims, there has been no real development in IIOJK. He emphasized that infrastructure projects like the railway line cannot replace the fundamental right to freedom.

Advocate Pervez Shah noted that Bashir Saduzai’s book serves as a reminder to the women of IIOJK that their suffering and sacrifices have not been forgotten. The book aims to preserve the historical memory of the Kanan Poshpora tragedy and highlight the ongoing struggle for justice.

The event underscored the continuing resilience of the Kashmiri people and the urgent need for the international community to address India’s human rights violations in the region.
