Shabbir Ahmad Shah, a prominent figure within the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), currently finds himself incarcerated in the notorious Tihar jail in New Delhi. Despite his confinement, Shah passionately implores the United Nations to step in and address the deteriorating situation in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, Shah, through a statement from his jail cell, underscores the critical need to resolve the Kashmir dispute urgently, aligning with the United Nations resolutions. He expresses deep concern over India’s alleged malicious intentions to violate the fundamental rights of the people in occupied Kashmir, portraying them as being treated even worse than animals. Shah vehemently condemns the Indian authorities’ rude and inhumane conduct, criticizing their use of military and police force to suppress the legitimate demand for the right to self-determination of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah directs his criticism towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime, accusing it of employing oppressive tactics that undermine the principles of a global village. He highlights the takeover of civil administration and bureaucracy by non-Kashmiris, leading to the virtual alienation of the Muslim majority from trade, business, and bureaucracy. Shah draws parallels with the historical Dogra Maharaja rule of 1947, emphasizing the marginalization of the Kashmiri population.

Lauding the courage and steadfastness of the freedom-loving people of Kashmir, Shah pledges an unwavering commitment to advancing their righteous cause. He declares, “We are indebted to the great sacrifices of our people and we shall leave no stone unturned to take the ongoing righteous demand to its logical conclusion.”

In a fervent plea, Shah urges the United Nations to acknowledge the alleged state-sponsored terrorism in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and intervene to halt what he describes as ruthless harassment, arbitrary arrests, and widespread human rights abuses. He appeals for the UN to actively engage in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its own resolutions.

Shah’s appeal resonates as a poignant cry for justice, shedding light on what he perceives as the dire situation in Kashmir. The call for international intervention underscores the urgency and severity of the issues faced by the people in the region, emphasizing the need for immediate attention from the global community to address and resolve the Kashmir dispute.
