As India continues its militaristic and communal tactics to silence Kashmiris, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) urges the international community to uphold the rights of the Kashmiri people and push for a fair plebiscite.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has voiced grave concern over the Indian government’s increasing use of militaristic and communal methods to suppress the voices of Kashmiri people peacefully advocating for the right to a plebiscite, as recognized by the United Nations. The APHC, which represents various pro-freedom groups in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), condemned the actions of the Indian government under the BJP regime, particularly its violent approach towards the oppressed Kashmiri population.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas condemned the actions of the Indian government, accusing the Hindutva-driven BJP regime of declaring a full-scale war against the people of IIOJK. He argued that the BJP’s oppressive policies, including the use of force under draconian laws, have been aimed at suppressing the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

Minhas specifically pointed to the continued arrests of Kashmiri youth and the seizure of properties as part of the Indian government’s broader strategy to crush the Kashmiri resistance. Despite these heavy-handed tactics, he stressed that such actions will not deter Kashmiris from their legitimate struggle for freedom. He reaffirmed that the right to self-determination is an unalienable human right, and the people of IIOJK will persist in their efforts to realize this right.

The APHC spokesperson further compared the treatment of Kashmiris to the oppression faced by Palestinians under Israeli occupation. He pointed out that the BJP government’s policies in IIOJK are more in line with Israel’s actions in Palestine, where both populations are denied basic freedoms and subjected to violence and displacement. This comparison highlights the growing concern over the violation of human rights in IIOJK and the increasing repression by Indian authorities.

Minhas stressed the importance of unity among Kashmiri people and pro-freedom groups to resist India’s oppressive policies. He called for a collective narrative to challenge the Indian government’s anti-Kashmir measures, urging the people of IIOJK to stand firm in their quest for justice.

Additionally, the APHC spokesman appealed to the international community, particularly the United Nations (UN), to act on its previous resolutions regarding Kashmir. He urged the UN Secretary-General and global bodies to push for the holding of a free and fair plebiscite, as promised to the Kashmiri people. Furthermore, Minhas called on the UN Human Rights Council and other international human rights organizations to address the severe human rights abuses taking place in IIOJK and hold the Indian government accountable for its actions in the region.

The APHC’s statement serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Jammu and Kashmir, where the Kashmiri people’s demand for freedom continues to be met with violent repression. As calls for international intervention grow louder, the hope remains that the global community will stand with the people of IIOJK and push for an end to the injustice they have faced for decades.
