UoP Hosts Seminar on the Deconstruction of Article 370’s Abrogation
August 6, 2024The Institute of Multi-Track Diplomacy, Dialogue, and Development Studies, in collaboration with the University of Poonch, hosted a seminar on August 5, 2024, titled “The Kashmir Dispute: Deconstructing India’s Illegal Strategy on the Abrogation of Article 370.” This event gathered scholars, students, and community members to examine the significant issue of Kashmir’s special status and its far-reaching consequences.
Dr. Waleed Rasool, a prominent expert, delivered the keynote address, labeling India’s abrogation of Article 370 as an act of aggression and a breach of international law. He highlighted the critical need for global solidarity to advocate for the restoration of Kashmir’s special status and to safeguard human rights in the region.
The seminar also featured addresses from Dr. Raouf and Dr. Jawad Zareen, who provided broader geopolitical insights. They emphasized the crucial role of academic and civil society engagement in bringing attention to the ongoing plight of the Kashmiri people.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the university administration, which reaffirmed its dedication to fostering awareness and dialogue on key regional issues. The administration also announced plans for future events aimed at further exploring the complexities of the Kashmir conflict.
