Under Siege: The Systematic Oppression of Kashmiri Youth
July 9, 2025In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the recent extension of remand for Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar and Bashir Ahmad Jothar is not merely a case of unlawful detention in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir; it is a blatant testament to the state’s ruthless exploitation of power, where justice is weaponized to suppress dissent and trample the innocent under the heavy hand of political powers. This flagrant act of oppression serves as a devastating reminder of the state’s relentless pursuit to silence those who dare challenge its oppressive agenda.
Unlawful Detention Without Evidence
Despite a complete lack of evidence, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been granted an additional 10 days to hold these innocent men. This disturbing decision highlights the ongoing use of investigative agencies as tools of political repression, where innocent Kashmiris are harassed, persecuted, and incarcerated under fabricated charges.
Baseless Allegations and False Accusations
Both men, arrested under the baseless allegation of “harboring” attackers allegedly involved in the widely discredited Pahalgam attack on April 22, have consistently denied the charges. They have called these accusations politically motivated and completely false. Yet, after 15 days of detention, the NIA has failed to present a shred of evidence to substantiate the claims.
Prolonged Custody Despite Lack of Evidence
Instead of being released, they were subjected to another 10 days in custody, continuing an investigation with no basis in fact. This is not just a failure of justice; it is an outright assault on the very notion of fairness and accountability.
A Politically-Driven Agenda
What’s even more alarming is the broader pattern this case represents. The NIA’s actions are not about uncovering the truth, but about maintaining a false, politically-driven narrative that serves the interests of those in power.
False Flag Operations and the Pahalgam Incident
The Pahalgam incident, which remains widely discredited as a false flag operation, has been used as a justification for persecuting innocent Kashmiris. This operation serves no purpose other than to demonize an entire community and silence any opposition to India’s agenda.
Systemic Abuse of Power in IIOJK
The continued detention of Parvaiz and Bashir is a representation of the systemic abuse of power in IIOJK. These men are being punished not for any crime they have committed, but for their identity and being Kashmiris. The NIA, instead of acting as a body upholding justice, has become a weapon of state oppression. Arbitrary arrests, false accusations, and prolonged remands are tactics used to instill fear, suppress dissent, and perpetuate a climate of control.
Wake-Up Call for the International Community
This case should serve as a wake-up call for the international community. The abuse of power in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is not just a local issue; it is a global human rights crisis. The unlawful detention of these two men is part of a much larger pattern of human rights violations that cannot be ignored.
The Need for Global Accountability
The time has come for the international community to take a firm stand against the continuing oppression in IIOJK. The cycle of injustice must end. The people of IIOJK deserve justice and their voices must be heard.
The Ongoing Struggle for Justice in IIOJK
IIOJK remains a place where truth is obscured by lies, where innocent lives are destroyed, and where power is exploited to crush any resistance. The world can no longer afford to turn a blind eye to this ongoing injustice.
