Three Hurriyat Groups Disassociate Amid Intensified Indian Crackdown

Srinagar – Three Hurriyat organizations have so far announced their disassociation from the pro-freedom camp due to India’s coercive tactics. These groups include Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (JKDPM), and the Jammu-based Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement.

According to political analysts, India is actively working to establish a Hurriyat-free political system in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The strategy involves a two-pronged approach—dismantling the Hurriyat leadership while simultaneously attempting to replace it with either pro-India Muslim political groups from IIOJK or forming a new forward bloc within Hurriyat.

Observers believe that these developments are part of India’s broader agenda to weaken the pro-freedom narrative in Kashmir by neutralizing key resistance voices. The systematic targeting of Hurriyat leaders through arrests, property seizures, and bans on political activities has created immense pressure on these organizations.

Despite these efforts, the core leadership of Hurriyat has reaffirmed its commitment to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, vowing to continue their struggle against Indian occupation.
